Ingredients
- water [see method]
- 1 cup milk
- 1 dessert spoon of butter or margarine
- 250 g uncooked GF macaroni
- 3 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese
- 2 heaped tsp cornflour
- half large capsicum, diced
- small quantity of Parmesan cheese
- four pieces of finely sliced ham, or equivalent quantity of cooked bacon, cut into 0.5cm strips
- ground pepper and salt
- Half-fill a large saucepan with water & bring to the boil
- Stir in macaroni & diced capsicum. Put lid on the saucepan, bring back to the boil, lower heat, simmer for 6 mins, stirring occasionally
- Take off heat, stir and let stand for 5 mins
- While macaroni is standing, toss cheese and cornflour together an a plastic bag
- When the 5 minutes is up, drain liquid from the macaroni
- Grind pepper and salt (to taste) over saucepan's contents
- Stir in cheese, milk & ham
- Place back on stove top and heat for 5 mins at the same setting used to simmer macaroni, stirring occasionally
- Serve, shaking over Parmesan cheese to taste.
